I Will Not Give Up
WHEN THE GOING IS HARDEST, JUST KEEP ON KEEPING ON, AND YOU'LL GET THERE SOONER THAN SOMEONE WHO FINDS THE GOING EASY. If you think achieving great heights of success will be easy, you either don't understand at all how the process works or you have your sights set too low. Reaching the top of any field is difficult, time-consuming, and often tedious. The reason it isn't crowded at the top is that most people won't do the things that are necessary to achieve success. They are all too willing to give up when the going gets tough. If you need inspiration to persevere, read the biographies of men and women who have achieved greatness in their lives. You will find that they prevailed because they refused to quit. They continued to toil alone long after the masses had given up and gone home.

Can You Help Me?
THE CLIMB UPWARD WILL BE EASIER IF YOU TAKE OTHERS ALONG WITH YOU.
When you take the initiative, you become a de facto leader whose success will depend in large measure upon your ability to inspire others to work with you. They will follow your lead when they have confidence in you and when they know they will share in your success. Few of us are good enough or lucky enough to achieve great success completely on our own. We need others to help us. When we give more in return than we ever ask of our friends and associates, not only will be able to accomplish much more in life, but it will also make the entire experience much more enjoyable.

Be The Best You Can Be
IF YOU ARE A SHEPHERD, BE THE BEST AND YOU MAY LIVE TO OWN THE FLOCK.
One of the most wonderful things about life is that we are all unique with different levels of intelligence, interests, aptitudes, and desires. How dreadfully dull it would be if we all wanted to be nuclear physicists-or bakers. But, regardless of the gifts we may have received at birth and whichever skills we may have since developed, we all have the capability to be the best at what we do. Being the best is strictly a reflection of your attitude and your desire. Whether you are a salesperson, an executive, a secretary, or an assembly-line worker, you have the capacity to be as good as you choose to be. When you become outstanding at what you do, you will discover greatly increased demand for your services. When you become the best in your line of work, you may be asked so often to help other "sheep" that you will soon own your own "flock."

Help Others
THE SUREST WAY TO PROMOTE YOURSELF IS TO HELP OTHERS GET AHEAD.
When you go out of your way to help others get ahead, it is inevitable that they will reciprocate. When you genuinely wish others well, even though you may feel a little envious that they are advancing faster than you or gaining more recognition, they will respond accordingly. Your good deeds will encourage them to do likewise. You may never know how many people have recommended you for a job, or a promotion, or helped you in some other way because you aided them when they needed it most.

Would You Give It Away?
IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING YOU DON'T NEED, GIVE IT TO SOMEONE WHO NEEDS IT. IT WILL COME BACK TO YOU IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.You know by now how important it is to offer service freely to your community without expecting anything specific in return. You know as well how important the intangible personal benefits of self-respect and inspiration that accompany such action are. But it is also true that by rendering a public service you have an effect on the values in your community. Your actions are a quiet but steadfast signal to others of the importance of being involved, a sign that success does not require heartless devotion to a cause and a reminder to others of the personal satisfaction you gain from your labor. You will find that you inspire others to similar actions in different areas, creating a ripple effect that extends far beyond what you alone can do. The community in which you live will become a better place, and you will be happier being a part of it.

Enjoy What Y ou Do
DON'T BE SATISFIED WITH BEING GOOD AT YOUR JOB. BE THE BEST, AND YOU'LL BE INDISPENSABLE.Experts have consistently found that after a certain point, money ceases to be a motivator. Even though you may not yet have reached that point, if you are honest with yourself, you will probably find that money is only one of many considerations. When asked if they would continue doing what they do even though it didn't pay well, most highly successful people reply, "Absolutely. I wouldn't change a thing. I love what I'm doing." One of the surest ways to climb the ladder of success is to choose a job that you would do even if you didn't earn much at it. When you are working because you like what you do, the money will follow. You will become such a rare commodity that others will compete for your services-and pay you handsomely for them.

What Would I Do?
DO YOUR JOB PRECISELY AS IF YOU WERE YOUR OWN BOSS, AND SOONER OR LATER YOU WILL BE.The American system of free enterprise is based upon the premise that every individual may profit in proportion to his or her labors. In today's hectic, highly competitive, global environment, however, you may feel that you are not adequately recognized and compensated for the contribution you make. The next time you feel overworked, underpaid, and unappreciated, remind yourself that you really are in business for yourself. Your product is you. Are you the kind of employee you would like to have it you were the boss? When you are considering a difficult decision or when you are thinking about how to avoid an unpleasant assignment, ask yourself, If this were my company, how would I handle this situation? When you answer is that you would take precisely the same action you are considering as an employee, you are headed for bigger and better things. You will soon be the boss.
